This post is a quick description of my thoughts on Tamed-Dashed and Upper Side Dreamin’- two songs by ENHYPEN, that have polar feelings of summer to them!
The irony here is that the song wasn’t even released during a summery period, October 2021. However, the song is a perfect depiction of a summery day. What is summer all about? Escapism, right? When it’s summer, you’re glad you don’t have answers gaps to fill in, boring hallways to walk though. Summer’s about living in the moment, forgetting about the past and not fretting over the future.
Summer’s all about the long run. Literally.
In Tamed-Dashed, ENHYPEN sing about how it’s okay if there’s no actual answer. They expand about how life presently, is more like a sweet dream. Summer’s all about dilemma suppressed- should you have that ice cream or not? Should you actually continue doing your homework or not?
Tamed-Dashed gives a voice to all those dilemmas. It’s energetic and bubbly, yet powerful and soothing at the same time. Isn’t that what summer feels like? A month of paradoxes, times that you hate and love at the same time?
While Tamed-Dashed is a summery day, Upper Side Dreamin’, a b-side of the same album, is what a summery night would look like. Long walks and the view by Han River, thinking of your aspirations and cooling off with lime soda, isn’t that the ideal summer night?
